Recently, we encountered a common question. Many users wanted to know if the dimensions of the DK 2205 label would fit an HID Door Access Card. We realized that some users with HID cards need to attach personal information such as name, position, or photo for better card management. Therefore, today, we’re going to address this question. We’ll tackle it from three aspects: first, we’ll explain what an HID card is (so that users unfamiliar with it can get a better understanding, but if you're already familiar, feel free to skip to the next part), second, what the DK 2205 label is, and finally, which labels are suitable for HID access cards.
Table of Content
HID access cards are produced by HID Global and are typiclaly used in security systems to control access to certain areas. These cards are based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, enabling wireless communication with the card readers in access control systems. Uses simply need to hold the card near the reader for identity verification and door operation. HID access cards are widely used in offices, schools, factories, and other locations where controlled access is required.
There are 3 main types of HID cards. Their dimensions are almost the same but slightly different:
iCLASS SE: 2.127" x 3.375"
Crescendo: 2.127" x 3.375"
HID Proximity: 2.13" x 3.38"
DK 2205 Continuous labels look like this.
They are a type of label compatible with Brother QL label printers. These labels are widely used for barcodes, return addresses, and FNSKU labels. They are commonly applied to packages, envelopes, mail, letters, parcels, signs, and temporary name tags.
HID door access cards look like this.
Like many door access cards, there is a narrow hole on the card to easily allow a lanyard to pass through. This unique shape is not suitable for all label rolls. You won’t find a label that perfectly fits the very shape of HID cards. Betckey has not yet launched any labels or sticker papers with this specific shape. We are currently at a critical point where we need to focus on perfecting the labels we are already producing before allocating resources to develop new products. However, there are other brands that can meet your needs—search online for options.
But if you plan to stick a smaller label or sticker onto the card, any label or sticker with a smaller width and length should work. For sticker paper, you can design various fun shapes to make your cards more interesting!
For thermal labels, we recommend these labels with smaller sizes than HID cards: Brother DK 2223, Dymo 30330, Dymo 30324.
For sticker paper, we recommend these products: 12UP 2.5" Round Labels, 24UP 1.5" x 1.5", 20UP 1.5" Round Labels. Sticker paper is more suitable if you need to write on .
Not only DK 2205, but any other labels won’t fit HID cards perfectly. However, you can stick smaller labels or stickers onto the card to make it more creative and personalized. If you need a label that matches the HID card’s shape and dimensions perfectly, search online for related products. Good luck!
