We have talked about how to pack and label your products in the previous articles. Today we are moving to the last step, creating a FBA inbound plan. If you're new to the process or simply need a refresher, this guide will walk you through every step of creating an Amazon FBA inbound plan in 2025, from setting up your shipment in Seller Central to printing labels and getting ready to ship.

Let’s break it down step by step so you can confidently send your products to Amazon’s fulfillment centers with no confusion or costly mistakes.

Step 1 Set Up the Shipment in Seller Central

1. Log into your Seller Central account

2. Go to Inventory >Manage FBA Inventory > Choose either FBA inventory or Shipment

  • Use FBA inventory if you are sending one SKU
  • Use Shipment if you are sending multiple SKUs

3. Click the Send to FBA button

4. Click Pre-selected SKUs and fill in basic shipment information > Click “Ready to pack” to continue

  • Ship from: Your address (click “Ship from another address”if you need to change the address)
  • Marketplace destination: (usually pre-filled; scroll down to select yours)
  • Fulfillment capability:
    • Choose Standard Fulfillment by Amazon if you are selling on Amazon
    • Choose a blank box if you are selling products on your own website and want Amazon to ship the products for you
  • Units (Required): Enter the number of units to send (e.g., 100 units). the boxes box is not required but units box is a required area. While specifying the number of boxes is optional, entering the number of units is mandatory.

Step 2 Enter Packing Details

1. Navigate to Packing Information > Choose either Everything will fit into one box or Multiple boxes will be needed > Click Confirm to continue

  • Choose Everything will fit into one box (you can only send one box)
  • Choose Multiple boxes will be needed (you can send more than one box to FBA warehouses)

2. Fill out packing details via Excel

  • Click Upload Excel File.

In the Excel Sheet, complete:

  • Number of units per box
  • Weight per box
  • Box dimensions (L x W x H)
  • Total units must match shipment total
(e.g., 100 units in 50 boxes, the total number of units across all boxes must add up to exactly 100. Otherwise, the number in the“Boxed Quantity” section will be showed in red.)

3. Click Upload and validate file

4. Click Confirm and continue.

Step 3 FBA Warehouse Allocation

1. Choose whether to split your shipment

You’ll have two options:

Split into multiple shipments (e.g., 5 warehouses)

  • Amazon will not charge placement service fee.
  • Higher shipping costs (This is easy to understand, because we send our products to multiple locations, not one)

Send to to the minimum locations

  • Amazon will spread your inventory but will charge placement service fee
  • If you send to the east region, the placement service fee is the lowest, higher for middle region, and the highest for West region)

Small Tips:

In our experience, we usually choose to send our products to the minimum locations and let Amazon spread our inventory, because paying a little placement service fee is much more cost effective than paying a lot more shipping fee.

By the way, because the Amazon policy has changed, now sellers are not allowed to choose which warehouse to send inventory. Amazon will automatically allocate for you.

2. Choose Shipping mode > Choose either Small parcel delivery or Pallet delivery.

To learn the difference between Small parcel delivery or Pallet delivery, check this article For Amazon Sellers: How to Pack Your Products for FBA?

3.  Select Shipping carrier

  • Select a shipping carrier via the drop down menu. If you can’t find yours, choose Other and fill in your carrier.
  • Choose shipping type (e.g., sea, freight, ground)
  • Select the shipping window (for example, if shipping by sea, the shipping cycle will be ~1.5 months)

4. Print shipping label

  • Choose label size
  • Print labels
  • Apply them to each box
