Label production cannot be delivered without raw materials. The raw materials mainly include facestock, backing paper, and adhesive.

Facestock: Facestock decides the appearance and performance of a label. Whether the label is water resistant or whether the text can be printed clearly. To cut costs, some brands may use paper made from unverified wood forests, or purchase pre-made labels to resell under their own brands. This results in inconsistent label quality from batch to batch.

Adhesive: Adhesive determines whether the label is strong enough to stick to the surface. At Betckey, we use a specially formulated adhesive with excellent low-temperature and hot temperature resistance. For common label types that you can see on our website, the adhesive can withstand temperatures within 14℉~158℉ (-10℃ ~ 70℃).

Backing Paper: Backing paper affects how smoothly the label can be peeled off. A release agent, like silicone oil, is often coated on the backing paper so the adhesive doesn't stick to it. A good backing paper ensures easy peeling during application. 

The production environment is very important. A stable temperature and clean, moderate humidity environment is essential to avoid problems like material bending or getting dirty.

Moreover, without a self-owned factory, label sellers must rely on third-party manufacturers, which may lead to instability in both supply quantity and product quality.

Coating is the process of applying adhesive onto the facestock and backing paper. The glue is mixed and coated on the backing paper. This is the first and most error-prone step.

One of the most common problems in the process is uneven coating. This happens when the adhesive is not applied evenly across the surface. As a result, some labels don’t stick well and fail off easily, while some stick too tightly and are hard to peel. This happens when the coating speed or coating pressure are set wrong. To avoid this, we use high-precision coating machines, keep the glue thickness stable, and clean the coating parts often, which require sufficient initial investment and constant maintenance.

After the glue is applied, it enters the drying part, which is also a part that can easily go wrong. If the dried base paper and top paper are not properly discharged and bonded, the adhesion may be affected, and the subsequent processing may also be affected. This part is relatively easy to control, but it requires experienced workers who understand the proper drying temperature of different adhesives and can monitor the process closely.

Until now, we have completed the first step of label production, then we need to divide the big roll of raw material into smaller rolls using a high speed self-adhesive slitting machine.

This is label rolls that are cut into smaller rolls. But they are still unable to use.

After the entire production process is finished, the labels go through a careful quality check. We look at many details to make sure everything is right. This includes checking the size, and whether the adhesive works well. Only the labels that pass all checks will be packed and sent out. This helps us make sure every roll you receive is clean, neat, and ready to use.

After the order is confirmed, we begin to design the sample. During this process, our service team will maintain close communication with you.

We’ll provide proof files for confirmation. If requested, we will send physical sample for approval. The total fee for samples ranges from $50 to $100.

Printing

After the sample is confirmed, we will go into the production process. The production lead time will be communicated in advance.

Quality inspection and shipping

After production, our team conducts a through quality check to ensure everything meets the standards. Once verified, your orders will be packed and shipped. You can then relax and wait for the delivery.
