In our last blog, we talked about how Brother meets your various label application needs by providing different size labels. However, you may have noticed that all of them are paper labels, which are not weather-resistant. What if you need weather-resistant, oil-proof, and scratch-proof labels? Check out this blog.

Actually, Brother also offers film labels instead of just paper labels. When you want your labels to be water-resistant, oil-resistant, and scratch-resistant, don’t hesitate to choose film labels. These film labels, made of PE or Polyethylene, are crafted from this resilient plastic and have become a go-to choice for various industries seeking durability and flexibility in their labeling solutions. They are commonly used in various applications, including packaging materials, bottles, and labels where super reliability is needed.

If you prefer more fashionable white film labels, consider Brother labels with a matte clear feature, such as DK-2211 (1.1" x 50’) or DK-2212 (2.4" x 50’ ), which have similar widths to DK-2210 (1.1" x 50’) and DK-2205 (2.4" x 100’) . These weather-resistant film labels with high transparency are professional and suitable for drink products or outdoor items.

For more clear film labels, Brother offers  DK-2113 (2.4" x 50’) , which are white film labels with 80% transparency. And if you need white film labels that can print in both black and red, then DK-2251 (2.4” x 50’) is your best choice.

Film Address - DK-2211 (1.1” x 50’) Labels: For Address, Drink Tag or Other Applications.

For small size applications, Brother provides DK-2211 (1.1" x 50’) continuous film labels to customers. For any small size application like address labels or barcode labels, this is your ideal choice. Compared to its paper-made 1.1” x 50’ counterpart DK-2210 , there are the following pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Water-resistant: Applicable outdoors
  • Scratch-proof: Heavy duty
  • Oil-resistant: Applicable in special environments like factories or kitchens

Cons:

  • More expensive

Film Multipurpose - DK-2212 (2.4” x 50’) Labels: For Name Tag, Shipping and More.

For medium to large size applications, Brother provides DK-2212 2.4” x 50’ continuous film labels to customers. For any medium to large size application like name tags, shipping labels, or multipurpose labels, this is your ideal choice. Compared to its paper-made 2.4” x 50’ counterpart DK-2205 , there are the following pros and cons, similar to the comparison between DK-2211 and DK-2210

Pros:

  • Water-resistant: Applicable outdoors
  • Scratch-proof: Heavy duty
  • Oil-resistant: Applicable in special environments like factories or kitchens

Cons:

  • More expensive

Film More Transparency- DK-2113 (2.4” x 50’):For Anything Readable

Regardless of the size difference, both DK-2211 and DK-2212 are glossy white film labels rather than transparent labels. Some of you may need transparent labels so your customers can read the label content and see what is behind the label, such as liquid. Then you can consider  DK-2113

Unlike the previous two sections, let's compare the pros and cons between transparent film labels and glossy white film labels.

Pros:

  • 80% Transparency: The content behind the labels is visible
  • More Professional

Cons:

  • More expensive

Film Black and Red in White - DK-2251 (2.4”x 50’)

Brother offers a unique glossy white film label that can print in both black and red. This is usually applied to warning stickers like "No Smoking," "Fragile," and "Keep Away from Children," where users need to include both black and red printing to highlight or draw attention.

Pros:

Compared to DK-2211 and DK-2212 glossy white labels that only support black printing, DK-2251 provides the additional feature of printing in red when needed. Whenever you need to print content in red, it must be a significant note, like "No Smoking" to avoid fire hazards in a warehouse.

Cons:

The downside of DK-2251  is its higher cost. There is always a trade-off when you opt for more premium products.

Conclusion

When you need weather-resistant, oil-proof, and scratch-proof labels to meet your needs in a rough environment, film labels with these features are your ideal choice. If you don’t care about transparency, then DK-2211 and DK-2212 are your ideal choices. If you prefer transparency, then choose  DK-2113 transparent labels. If you would like to print in both black and red on glossy white film labels, then consider DK-2251  .

The more features you get, the higher the price you pay. Remember, choose the label that fits your needs first and then the one that fits your budget the best.
